In the words of my mentor and respected colleague, Bruce Moon: "In Art Therapy we make art about our feelings". In doing so, I believe we develop our relationship with ourselves and discover insights that we might not otherwise. Skill is not necessary. The Art Therapist can assist the client with technical proficiency and help the client overcome artistic self-consciousness and creative blocks. Painting, drawing, clay, sculpting and collage are just a few of the activities that can take place in an art therapy session. Tailored to the needs of the client, Art Therapy can benefit people of all ages.
